What documents shall a natural person submit to a duty free point when purchasing the goods?

The sale of goods at the free trade point to natural persons leaving the customs territory of Georgia is carried out upon submission of the following:

  • One of the following identification documents with the date stamp marked - "Exit":
    • Passport of a citizen of Georgia;
    • Passport of a stateless person;
    • Refugee travel document;
    • Passport of a person with humanitarian status;
    • Passport of a foreign citizen;
    • Other travel documents defined by law;
    • In the absence of the above documents - an identity document recognized by the legislation of Georgia or on the basis of an international agreement of Georgia, which is valid for travel;
  • When purchasing goods at the DUTY FREE point at the airport, one of the following documents shall be added:
    • International flight boarding card;
    • Aviation personnel certificate;
    • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.

What is a duty free point?

A duty free point is a control zone, where the following shall be sold:

  • Foreign goods through retail procedures without taking tariff and non-tariff measures;
  • the Georgian goods.

The goods are sold from the point of departure at the border and/or from the aircraft flying the international flight to natural persons leaving the economic territory of Georgia, as well as until 1 January 2021, for the official use of foreign diplomatic missions and equivalent missions from points within the country, for the personal use of members of these missions and diplomatic missions (Including family members living with them) on a retail basis.
