The functions of the Department of International Relations are:
a) liaising with donor organizations, competent authorities of foreign states and international organizations, diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia, maintaining official correspondence and providing them with information on the activities of the Service;
b) participating in the preparation of drafts of international treaties and agreements on issues within the competence of the Service, as well as drafting proposals for international agreements and treaties;
b1) participating in the preparation and conclusion of international agreements on Exchange of Information on Tax Matters, on Administrative Mutual Assistance in Tax Matters and on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters, as well as coordinating the performance of actions for their implementation in accordance with the legislation;
c) studying and analysing rating surveys conducted by international organizations, as well as developing relevant proposals and recommendations;
d) searching, preparing, agreeing on international projects on issues related to the competence of the Service and coordinating their implementation;
e) representing the Service in the Internal European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA) and the World Customs Organization (WCO), as well as in other international organizations;
f) within the competence of the Service, coordinating the fulfilment of obligations by Georgia under international agreements, including agreements on mutual legal assistance;
g) facilitating the harmonization of the legislation of Georgia with the international legal norms that are binding on Georgia, as well as developing relevant proposals for this purpose;
h) within the scope of its competence, developing proposals for harmonization of the legislation of Georgia with the standards of international law, European law, as well as coordinating the implementation of state training and development programmes in this field, studying and analysing the best practices / recommendations recognized by international organizations;
i) selecting candidates for participation in international forums, conferences and events, study programmes and trainings abroad;
j) posting constantly updated information in the Information Consulting System (CEN, e-CEN) of the World Customs Organization (WCO);
k) exercising other powers provided for in an individual administrative-legal act of the Head of the Service;
l) carrying out certain tasks and instructions of the management of the Service.
