This decision will help the country's healthcare sector to have a smooth supply of all necessary equipment to fight coronavirus.
Car importers have extended the customs clearance period for imported cars until 1 May, 2020 till 1 March, 2021.
By the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council established under the leadership of the Prime Minister, to promote auto importers, and given the fact that the coronavirus infection has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Finance of Georgia has decided to extend the customs clearance period for imported cars until 1 May, 2020.
In accordance with the Order of the Minister of Finance, the owner of a motor vehicle imported into the customs territory of Georgia shall be exempted from liability for violation of submission / general declaration / declaration deadline or declaration of the vehicle or violation of the terms of the customs procedure, in accordance with the relevant articles of the Customs Code of Georgia as well as for non-payment of the amount of tax payable on the mentioned vehicle within the period established by the tax legislation, from the fine determined by the Tax Code of Georgia.

The owner of the vehicle is obliged to ensure that this vehicle is placed under the customs procedure or re-exported by 1 March, 2021. Otherwise the above benefits will not apply.
